Mark spent most of his career at The Goldman Sachs Group Inc, beginning there in 1979, and retiring at year end 2016 as vice chairman of the Firm and chairman of Goldman Sachs Asia Pacific.

Mark currently serves on the board of directors of Paytm (a major payments and e-commerce platform in India) and has formerly served on the boards of Mastercard and Softbank. He is currently a trustee of the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Jiahui International Hospital in Shanghai, China, and is on the board of directors of the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard. He also serves on various boards at Harvard College, Harvard Business School, and the Harvard School of Public Health.

Mark earned a BA, an MBA, and an MPP from Harvard University.
